Famous Footwear

who else love color?

Famously You.

Recently we worked with Caleres for Famous Footwear on a range of work that included :15 and :30 second TV spots as well as print campaigns for in-store display and a rewards program launch. These types of jobs are perfect for how we're setup and work.

Read on for Tim and Brandon's approach to each concept and some of their creative decisions during the process.

Director's Notes

I wanted these spots to be fun, energetic and genuine. They should feel as if we’re capturing real family moments in an almost documentary style— but with cinematic-quality visuals. Finding the proper location was key.

Knowing we needed to highlight the shoes throughout, we shot in a way that gave our editors as many options as possible so the focus on the shoe wouldn't be abrupt or feel staged.

See the :30 spot at the top of the page, the :15 is just below.

1 studio, 5 colors

Spring Campaign (Stills)

The Spring campaign was all about color. Our approach was to always want to keep it loose, fun and really feel those pastel Easter colors that allowed the shoes to really pop.

The shot list required us to capture a large library of talent across multiple background colors to be used as in-store POS print pieces. We decided the most efficient solution was to strategically paint multiple set areas in one studio. This allowed us to bounce back and forth continuously to stay on schedule, even with that one little thing happens that wasn't planned.

We work hard to ensure we're ready for just about anything.

Big. Bold. Color.

And a whole lotta fun.

Not only was Brandon and his crew working lifestyle in his studio, Eric was just upstairs taking product shots. This was vital to the productivity and efficiency because some of the shoes were prototypes and only one pair (or even just a single!) was available. The was no need to ship the shoes out to a separate photographer to execute the product shots.

Lighting style, colors and styling could be matched perfectly.

a rewards program for you

Famously You Campaign

The Rewards Program focused on capturing that moment we all feel when receiving something unexpected (in a good way). You know, that excited, joyous feeling.

Finding the right talent to be the face of this campaign was key. They needed that natural, very big smile. That smile that comes through must be as authentic as possible because we can all spot a forced smile from miles away.
